Before the concert, with Ang Sian, Leng Lee, Kai & Jas. Huiqi, WHO WORE SKIRT, refused to get into the photo. Hahs.
Edvox's Talento VI Concert has finally come to an end. The two hours of performance on stage is worthy of a year's effort put into the rehearsals, especially at Whampoa. The concert was superb, as the experience gained was truely enjoyable, though there were a few mistakes made, especially in the orchestra. I'm really starting to miss all the rehearsals and the time spent with the teachers and frens in Edvox. Why must the beautiful moments pass so quickly?
I played in the strings quartet and orchestra this year. I had a positive experience working with our quartet members, namely Wee Siang in first violin, Bryan in viola and Wei Xian in cello. Without them, there wouldn't be so much fun and laughter during the quartet rehearsals. (= Wee Siang is a friend I've known for a couple of years. We used to be in the same theory class from Grade 5 to Grade 8. Though he is already a secondary school physics teacher, he looks very young - like he's only seventeen years old!- Bryan is someone whom I have played together in the orchestra with for three years, though I only get to know more about him recently. His character is very much like my cousin, humorous, skillful and smart. I heard he had only played the viola for two weeks, and he was able to play Eine Kleine well! Impressive indeed. He had always enliven the atmosphere during the rehearsals, though now he jokingly calls me a "music freak-weird-extraordinary girl". Hahs. As for Wei Xian, she's quiet by nature, but I can sense that she is a pleasant girl too!
During the finally rehearsal on the concert day, finally had I got to see my current desk partner -Rachael. She's a pleasant gal, who's friendly, matured and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed playing together with her. Sadly, I only get to play with her for once, and she has to fly back to Australia to continue her studies after the holidays.
Though I did not really get to see the concert as I was at backstage, I heard that the piano solos were very good this time. Hahs I feel so happy for the piano soloists. (= However, while we were playing the Halo Theme in the orchestra, the lights went off to show the audience the actual video of the game itself. It was so dark that I couldn't even see a single note. Neither could I see the score clearly while playing for the other few orchestra songs, as I did not wear my contact lenses ( Argh serve me right...). So, I had to play all the songs, namely Fantasia 2000, Halo Theme, Schindler's List and Grease, based on my memory. With that, I made a few mistakes of course. Next, after a whole day of running about in my high heel shoes, my legs almost broke. The pain was so unendurable that I had to drag my feet along walking onstage to take my High Scorer Award for piano and violin (during the rehearsal of course).
However, those insignificant obstacles were just nothing as compared to the truly enjoyable experience gained at the concert! I'm looking forward to the concert for next year, and at the same time, I would devote myself to practising the piano and violin more frequently now.
